Un rendez-vous =E0 haut risque=20
La premi=E8re Assembl=E9e des Etats Parties (AEP) =E0 la Cour P=E9nale
Internationale (CPI) se tiendra au si=E8ge
des Nations Unies =E0 New York du 3 au 10 septembre 2002.
La FIDH, qui a activement particip=E9 aux n=E9gociations de Statut et des
textes compl=E9mentaires sur la Cour
, consid=E8re que ce premier rendez vous entre les Etats qui ont ratifi=E9
le Statut de Rome est historique. Il
marque une =E9tape essentielle dans le processus d'=E9tablissement d'une
justice p=E9nale internationale
permettant enfin aux victimes des crimes les plus graves - g=E9nocide
crimes de guerre et crimes contre
l'humanit=E9 - de se faire entendre. Intervenant dans le contexte
d'offensive am=E9ricaine anti-CPI tous azimuts,
cette session n'est pas sans risque pour l'effectivit=E9 et l'ind=E9pendance
